Modern Africa: Politics, History, and Society is a no-fee open-access peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Philosophical Faculty, University of Hradec Králové, Czech Republic under auspices of Czech Association for African Studies. Published in English, the journal makes accessible original texts covering important political, social and historical themes concerning Africa. Its editorial policy encourages an interdisciplinary approach, involving the humanities and social sciences, including political studies, history, sociology, anthropology, gender studies, environmental and development studies, etc.

Modern Africa: Politics, History and Society is published twice a year. Each issue includes the following sections: Research articles, Reports, and Reviews. The journal is indexed and abstracted in Scopus, the European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIH Plus), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and Ebsco Sociology Source.
