Instructions for Authors

  • Modern Africa: Politics, History and Society is published in English only.
  • The texts should deal with politics, history, and society of the African region.
  • The texts should be either in the form of articles (papers or studies, about 8 000-10 000 words), reports (of events, conferences, etc.), or reviews (of books, journals).
  • All full-length articles must be preceded by an abstract (between 125-130 words) with five keywords.
  • All submissions should be submitted by using our web interface. In case of submitting a Research Article, which will be peer-reviewed,  prevent identities of authors to be known. You can check some information here.

  • The texts should adhere to citation guidelines of APA 6th Ed.

Peer-review policy:

  1. Each research article is sent to two reviewers.
  2. The name of the author is suppressed so that the reviewers are not aware of the author's identity.
  3. Similarly, the reviewers do not know mutually each other's names or the fact that they are reviewing this or that manuscript. Both reviewers' reports are sent to the author.
  4. If the recommendation is to revise, the authors are asked to implement the recommendations.
  5. If there is great disagreement between the reviewers, the manuscript is sent to a third anonymous reviewer.
  6. The reviewed manuscript may be sent back to reviewers for another check if the editor deems this necessary.
