Abstract

Efforts to Land Security in Bohemia in the Pre-Hussite Period and the Beginnings of the Pilsen Landfriede
The study deals with the issue of land peace and security in the Kingdom of Bohemia in the period before the Hussite Revolution, focusing on the second half of the 14th century and the beginning of the 15th century. It focuses on the role of the monarch and the efforts of the land community, represented by the lords, as well as the role of the royal towns. Special attention is paid to the situation in western Bohemia in the medieval Pilsen region, where the institution of the regional Landfriede (Land Peace) began to take shape at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. The early development of the Pilsen Landfriede is analysed in detail until 1417, when a stable group led by prominent members of the West Bohemian nobility was formed.
