Abstract

České Budějovice under the Rule of the King George of Poděbrady: Between Loyalty and Conflict with the Union of Green Mountain
The study focuses on the position of České Budějovice during the reign of the King George of Poděbrady, with particular emphasis on their relationship with the Union of Green Mountain (Zelenohorská jednota), which represented a significant opposition force against the King. It analyses the political and military challenges the city faced and examines its strategic decisions, including pragmatic cooperation with local nobles such as Jan of Rožmberk, as well as direct diplomatic contacts with the King. The article demonstrates how České Budějovice navigated between loyalty to the King and negotiations with the Union, thereby solidifying its significant position in the complex political landscape of the time.
