Abstract

The phenomenon of experienced psychedelia (literally, “revelation of the mind”) stands on the border between philosophical investigation and anthropological research. In this article, we will try to look at one of the basic philosophical foundations of the American ethnobotanist and anthropologist Terence McKenna, which he found in Heraclitus and his concept of logos. According to Terence McKenna, the emanation of the Logos takes place in the psychedelic experience, and it is also the Logos that, according to Terence McKenna, speaks to modern man through technology. This article does not examine the completeness of the justification for identifying McKenna’s concept of logos with that of Heraclitus, but an introductory exposition of McKenna‘s inspirational reflections.
